The People of Denver get ready to sink in the largest beer festival in the nation. The Great American Beer Festival is returning to Denver and tickets will be available in August.
On August 1, the tickets will go on sale for members of the Brewers Association and American Homebrewers Association. On August 2, tickets go on sale to the general public. Why is it news that the ticket sale dates have been released? Festival organizers say tickets sold out in 67 minutes in 2016.
Quick facts about last year's festival:
- More than 3,800 beers were served in the festival hall—the biggest selection of American beers ever served.
- 60,000 attendees, including ticketed attendees, brewers, judges, volunteers and journalists, attended in 2016.
- 780 United States breweries poured in the festival hall in 2016—a new record.
- The festival had a $28.6 million economic impact on the city of Denver in 2016, according to Visit Denver, the city’s convention and visitors bureau.
The 2017 festival takes place from October 5 to 7 at the Colorado Convention Center in Downtown Denver.
About The Great American Beer Festival:
It is a three-day annual event organized by the Brewers Association, held in Denver, in mid to late September or early October. The event attracts visitors from around the world to sample thousands of different American craft beers. Over 100 beer judges from the United States and abroad evaluate beer in the associated competition, ultimately judging several thousand beers entered by hundreds of domestic breweries. Gold, silver and bronze medals in 92 beer-style categories (as of 2015) are awarded, though not every medal is necessarily awarded in each category.
The Great American Beer Festival started in 1982 by nuclear engineer Charlie Papazian in Boulder, Colorado. The first ever event had 21 participating breweries and the 2016 had 780. It is considered as the largest ticketed beer festival in the country.
