Logan Goodwin, of Hersosa Beach, California succumbed to his injuries sustained on Saturday (April 8th) at the Breckenridge Ski Resort.
The county coroner’s office determined that the boy died from blunt force trauma to his abdomen and ruled the death as an accident.
According to Sheriff’s Office the 12-year-old was skiing in trees near the upper part of a beginner run on Peak 8, when he smashed into a stump at about 2:15 p.m. Logan had a helmet at the time of the accident, but he suffered injuries to the midsection.

This season at least 13 people between the ages 12-56 have died skiing in Colorado, five of them at the Breckenridge Resort alone. This is the deadliest season since 2011-12, when 22 people lost their lives on snowy slopes.
Last month, a 15-year-old girl from Kansas suffered a crash during her first time skiing at the resort; she later died due to the injuries she sustained.

On Sunday, Logan’s father, Todd Goodwin, shared a family photo showing his wife, Logan and two daughters posing happily on a beach in January, everyone in the photo were dressed in football jerseys of their favorite team, the New England Patriots.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched asking for donations in lieu of flowers to help help refurbish Logan's school. So far, just over $9,000 has been raised.
