Shooting near Geroge Washington High School

Two persons were injured in a shooting near the George Washington High School in Denver and were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday afternoon (March 15). Police believe that the incident’s origin point was about a mile away.

Denver police Department updated about the shooting soon after it happened on Twitter.

The shooting took place near the intersection of Leetsdale and Jersey near McDonald’s.

Witnesses of the incident, said that a man in a vehicle made a U-turn at the intersection before shooting at two persons inside a Ford pick-up truck. The two persons ran into McDonald’s for help.

“The shooter gets out of his car, looks in there and these guys are already half way to McDonalds,” witness Jeff Stallings said.

“He just hops back into his sedan and drives off going back eastbound here. I look over and there’s a girl right next to me, she’s trembling in her car and I’m not going to lie, I’m shaking a little bit myself.”

The two victims were rushed to the nearest hospital with no critical injuries. It is not clear yet, if they were shot or how they were injured.

A police chopper flew over the scene, where the police had blocked off the lanes of Leetsdale and the McDonald’s parking entry soon after the shooting.

The witness said that the suspect’s vehicle drove away. And Investigators said that the incident began about a mile away in an apartment at Quebec Street and South Parker Road.

Police are looking for the suspect in the shooting and is being described as a heavy-set Hispanic male, 230 pounds, bald and was wearing a bright green t-shirt. The suspect’s vehicle is a hunter green sedan, possibly a 1990s Buick.
