This School in Colorado Switches to Four-Day Week and Teachers, Students Absolutely Love It!

In an impressive move, which could be probably a huge relief for school kids, a school in Colorado had decided to switch to working four days a week, instead of the usual five. The decision comes after a UK company switched to the four-day work week and even gave pay-hike to staff.

Currently, this system is gaining popularity and this school in the U.S. state is also living the four-day week dream for real.

27J Schools in Adams County, Colorado, switched to the shorter week at the start of this academic year only. The system means that everyone at the school gets Monday off and their week starts from Tuesday till Friday, meaning students can enjoy or pursue their hobbies and teachers can spend it preparing for the week doing what they need.

Science teacher, Ally Hyatt told NBC, "It was attractive to me because I was essentially working that long of a day in DPS anyway. Here, I could just do it four days a week. It's been amazing for my personal life, and I love that I have more time to actually plan lessons on Monday and get everything ready for the week."

27J Schools Superintendent, Dr. Chris Fielder also told NBC, "We weren't going to compete in the current system. You just can't be dead last in funding, last in starting teacher salaries, last in average teacher pay and expect you'll attract the best folks. If you have the money, you should pay your teachers. But for us, it's a significant differentiating factor that makes us really competitive."

However, quite a lot of parents haven’t been big fans of the change due to issues with sorting out childcare.
