Mayor of Aurora Steve Hogan dies at Age 69 following cancer diagnosis

The most dynamic mayor of Aurora Steve Hogan died at the age of 69 on Sunday morning, following a cancer diagnosis, according the announcement made by City officials.

Mayor Hogan was serving Aurora since 2011 and the city council for over 24 years before that.

He made an announcement last week, that he was entering home hospice care, after being diagnosed with cancer, he commented that he would like to live further days “with dignity, grace and in peace”, he said that he was not willing to have re election on diagnosis.

The family of deceased, asked people to donate the mayor Stephen D Hogan Memorial Fund in lieu of flowers.

A donation link would soon be available early this week, said the city officials.

The collected donations, would be distributed to the University of Denver Stephen D. Hogan Scholarship fund, the 7/20 memorial fund, the Aurora Korean Memorial Fund and also to Aurora History Museum, which would help for all the causes important for Hogan.

The City officials said that, the details about the services will be in forthcoming.

Hogan has earned great respect, during his tenure with an instance of Aurora theater shooting and worked with the state and federal officials in the early hours, several citizens have made statements remembering his services on Sunday, after the news of his passing.

Governor Jhon Hickenlooper, has ordered for the flags be flown at half staff in honor of Hogan and also issued Longer statement on Sunday afternoon.
