Huawei Mate X7 was globally unveiled on Thursday, following a month after its debut as the latest book-style foldable smartphone in China. The Mate X7 operates on the Kirin 9030 Pro processor, along with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage space. It features an 8-inch inner display and a 6.49-inch outer display. Other important features of the Huawei Mate X7 are three cameras facing outward, Huawei's HarmonyOS 6.0 software, and two front cameras of 8 megapixels each. In Europe, the Huawei Mate X7 comes with a price tag of EUR 2,099 (around Rs. 2,20,000) for the single version with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It is available in three colors: Black, Brocade White, and Nebula Red. To compare, Huawei revealed the Mate X7 in China in November, starting its price at CNY 12,999 (approximately Rs. 1,63,500).
The Huawei Mate X7 uses HarmonyOS 6.0, which does not run on Android, and has an 8-inch flexible LTPO OLED inner display with a resolution of 2,210 x 2,416 pixels, a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz, and peak brightness reaching 2,500 nits. The foldable phone’s 6.49-inch external display features a resolution of 1,080 x 2,444 pixels and offers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, along with a touch sampling rate of up to 300Hz. Both displays can adjust their refresh rates from 1Hz to 120Hz and feature 1440Hz PWM dimming. The outer screen is protected by second-generation Kunlun glass. The foldable device is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro processor, with 16GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. For its cameras, it has a triple setup facing outward, led by a 50-megapixel primary RYYB camera with adjustable aperture from f1.4 to f4.0 and optical image stabilization (OIS). The camera system also includes a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle RYYB camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 50-megapixel telephoto RYYB camera featuring OIS. Additionally, it includes a second-generation red maple sensor.
Each of the inner and outer screens of the Mate X7 is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera. The phone is rated IP58+IP59 for protection against dust and water. The connectivity features of the Huawei Mate X7 consist of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6, BeiDou, Galileo, NavIC, GPS, AGPS, QZSS, Glonass, NFC, and a USB Type-C port for charging. Sensors included in the device are a gravity sensor, infrared sensor, fingerprint sensor, hall sensor, barometer, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, camera laser autofocus sensor, and color temperature sensor. The standard Mate X7 model is outfitted with a 5,300mAh battery, while the Collector's Edition of the Chinese model has a larger 5,600mAh battery. The smartphone supports fast charging at 66W when wired and 50W when wireless.
