Undocumented Mother Of Three Set To Be Deported From U.S.

A 30-year-old undocumented woman, who is the mother of three American children was taken into custody by immigration agents in Denver and now faces charges of immediate deportation.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers arrested Ilse Cristina Rodriguez-Sangarnaga when she visited the local ICE field office on Wednesday for check-in.

A spokesperson for the ICE said that Rodriguez-Sangarnaga, who illegally sneaked into the United States, has three misdemeanor conviction in Colorado.

The court documents showed that she pleaded guilty to false reporting in 2010 and harassment.

The spokesperson pointed out that it was still unclear when she first illegally entered the U.S. soil, but a federal immigration judge granted her a voluntary departure, and then a final order of removal in October 2012.

In June 2016 the ICE granted Rodriguez-Sagarnaga a year stay removal and that she had requested another stay of removal, which was denied on Tuesday this week.

The American Friends Service Committee, which advocates for illegal people living in the U.S., who are targeted for removal by ICE, says that Rodriguez-Sagarnaga has been in the United States since she was 5 years old.

She is married to Alberto and they have three young daughters, aged 9 months, 22 months and 3 years.

The committee said that Rodriguez-Sagarnaga’s convictions when she was “trying to leave an abusive ex-husband,” and that she was not able to apply for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) because of the charge.

The program allows kids of illegal parents to work or study in the country without being targeted for deportation.

DACA is one of the programs started during the Obama administration and the current administration under Donald Trump said that the program would stay intact, though the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), which was held up in federal court before it could be fully rolled out, will go away.
