Town Center Aurora Closed After Disturbance

Aurora police officers evacuated the Town Center Aurora on Monday evening because of a large disturbance inside the mall.

Aurora police department tweeted “Large disturbance at @TCAurora. The Mall is being closed and evacuated by APD. No one else will be permitted into the mall”.- Aurora Police Dept(@AuroraPD.

Police said that a post on social media told people that there was going to be a fight at the Aurora mall.

The fight started in the food court and soon there were around 500 people involved.

When a police officer was surrounded by the crowd, police decided to evacuate the building.

Police arrested five juveniles involved.

Video footage, which was recorded by witnesses showed that the police were holding some people on the ground and multiple people were yelling.

“Aurora police tackling dragging teenagers, no bigger than 120 pounds and using excessive force. Stop the police”

Few of the people posted their views on Facebook who were present at the time of the incident.

Cody turner- “I was working there, it was crazy, police did an amazing work”.

Claudia Simental- “I was there and officers were not at all using excessive force”, Kids refused to cooperate with the police officers and were a threat to other people.

In the incident two people were hurt, till now the police has not released any details about the victims or their injuries.

A security worker from the mall told Denver7 that there were too many people inside the mall when a fight broke out.

A viewer of Denver7 agreed.

Marissa Ornelas wrote on her Facebook, “It was way overpakced.”

The Town Center Aurora mall is on East Alameda Ave., just off Interstate 225.

Mall officials said the mall is expected to reopen at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Town Center Aurora tweeted “The mall is closing early this evening due to a disturbance. No immediate threats exist. We will open tomorrow at 10am.

Disturbances were also seen at other malls across the country, including ‘Indiapolis’ mall and Aurora Illinois mall.

Aurora Colorado Police said that they do not believe, if there is any kind of connection" between the Aurora Colorado and Aurora Illinois incidents.
