Arun Singh, who is present Ambassador to France has been named for envoy to the US, and the government of India informed the American government in this regard.

Arun Singh will be replacing S Jaishankar, who was appointed in January after Obama’s India trip. Sujatha Singh preceded Jaishankar. The 1979-batch IFS officer Arun Singh held several posts in External Affairs Ministry. He has been joint secretary in-charge of Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan devision in Ministry of External Affairs, has done postings in Japan, Israel among other countries.

Mohan Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Bahrain may replace Mr Singh in France, after government notification.
