NZ pipped Kenya

Hamish Benett, kenya, jimmy kamande, mccullum, chennai, lowest total, guptill, new zelandIn the second league match of the ongoing World Cup, New Zealand has secured an easy win over the incompetent Kenya yesterday.

In a match played at Chennai yesterday, Hamish Bennett was the star bowler in the Blackcaps' victory over the minnows Kenya. The seamer routed the Kenyan team for 69 runs, which is the fifth lowest total in World Cup history.

Expecting the pitch to aid the spinners in the later stages of the match, Kenya Captain Jimmy Kamande elected to bat first. However, his decision backfired as Kenya collapsed cheaply to the tight bowling spell by the New Zealand fast bowlers. Kenya could managed a mere 69 on the board.

The plight of Kenyan batsmen was palatable given the lone highest score of opener Waters, who made 16.

Martin Guptill(39) and Brendon McCullum (26) made short work of the victory target of 70 in just 8 overs with out losing any wicket in New Zeland's run chase.
A sterner test of strength awaits NZ further as it meets Australia in a day-nighter on 25th Feb at Nagpur.
